How to watch and follow the Olympic wrestling competition in Tokyo this week

Cody Goodwin
Des Moines Register

The wrestling competition at the Tokyo Olympics begins Saturday night (or Sunday morning in Japan), and will feature many of the world's best wrestlers in men's and women's freestyle and Greco-Roman.

We're excited for the upcoming action, so we're here to help you follow along, too.

The wrestling action runs Saturday through next Friday, and many of the United States' brightest wrestling stars are expected to contend for medals across all three disciplines. Fans from across the country and around the world will be tuning in.

Here's how you can, too:

Watch and stream Olympic wrestling

There are plenty of viewing options available.

Per USA Wrestling and NBC, Olympic wrestling competition is receiving extensive coverage on The Olympic Channel.

That means: Starting Sunday, August 1, wrestling will be on The Olympic Channel every day through August 7. Outside of August 1, wrestling will be the only sport that appears on the Olympic Channel (tennis will also be on the Olympic Channel on August 1).

Wrestling will also appear on USA Network a number of days and on CNBC another day.

That's just on TV, where some of the scheduled times will be live, and others will be replays.

Here's how you can stream the competition as it happens:

NBC's official Tokyo Olympics streaming website allows you to watch all the wrestling live from your computer, tablet or smartphone. Just log in with your TV/streaming information and you can watch individual mat cameras.

Peacock TV, which hosted and broadcasted the U.S. Olympic Trials – Wrestling back in April, will also have streaming capability. Peacock Premium is $4.99 a month, and there's an ad-free option for an additional $5 a month.

ON INSTAGRAM: All the same folks will be on the 'Gram, too.
