Introducing Iowa State football's newest additions to its 2022 recruiting class

Iowa State football added a pair of new high school additions to its 2022 recruiting class on Wednesday, the first day of the February signing period. And its recent junior college addition is already on campus.

Here's a breakdown of all three new Cyclones.

Note: Florida four-star defensive end recruit R Mason Thomas is choosing between Iowa State and Oklahoma on Wednesday. Most buzz has him flipping to the Sooners.

Jontez Williams, CB (Starke, Florida)

The 5-foot-11 Williams, who played cornerback and receiver for Bradford High, gave Iowa State a Christmas Day commitment. He also held an offer from Tennessee Tech and visited North Carolina and South Carolina this fall. Bradford went 10-2 this year and Williams was a big reason why, hauling in 34 catches for 653 yards and four scores, as well as three interceptions on defense. He is the No. 1,151 overall prospect in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite. Williams is Iowa State's fourth 2022 recruit in the secondary, joining Florida (originally Minneapolis) three-star Trevon Howard, Florida three-star Terrell Crosby and Texas three-star Jeremiah Cooper.

Jace Gilbert, K (Marlow, Oklahoma)

A quarterback/kicker/punter blend, Gilbert received a full scholarship offer as a kicker from Iowa State in late January. He also held a full scholarship offer from Abilene Christian and Army, plus preferred walk-on offers from Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Matt Campbell has shown he's not afraid to spend a scholarship on special teams, and Gilbert has one of the country's best legs. Kohl's Professional Camps pegs him as a five-star talent and the No. 13 punter in 2022 and the No. 18 kicker. Gilbert is Iowa State's second 2022 signee on special teams, joining Ohio punter Tyler Perkins.

Iowa State kicker Jace Gilbert kicked a 52-yard field goal during a spectacular career at Marlow High School in Oklahoma.

Nate Glantz, QB (Omaha, Nebraska)

Glantz led junior college powerhouse Iowa Western to the NJCAA national title game this past fall and hauled in offers from Nebraska, Iowa State, Abilene Christian and Grambling State. The 6-2, 195-pound product of Bellevue West in Omaha was the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year in 2020 and led the Reivers to an 18-2 record as the starter over the past two seasons. In 2021, he completed 159 of 301 passes for 2,147 yards and 18 touchdowns. Glantz will be Iowa State's second new signal-caller on next year's roster, joining Florida three-star quarterback Rocco Becht.
